SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Freshman Michael Salvatori and junior Andrew Hale swam outstanding 400-yard individual medleys on Friday to kickstart the third and final virtual meet for the Shippensburg University men's swimming team at Donald N. Miller Pool.

Salvatori unofficially broke the pool record in the 400 IM by more than six seconds with a remarkable time of 4:05.78. It's also a five-second improvement upon his time from the first virtual meet (4:11.43).

Hale almost broke the pool record as well, completing his swim in 4:11.48. Traditionally a 200-yard competitor, Hale's impressive swim marks his first meet outing in the event since swimming 4:25 at Bucknell in February 2019.

The tone was set with redshirt-freshman JC Greenwood swimming the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:48.91 – which marks a 36-second improvement to his seed time that was established at the first virtual meet.

Junior Trevor Woolwine paced the Raiders in the 50-yard freestyle and the 200-yard freestyle, posting respective times of 22.06 seconds and 1:49.66. Sophomore Elijah Zinn swam the 50 in 22.49 seconds and the 200 in 1:53.37.

Junior Vin Salvatore posted the fastest time in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 53.80 seconds. It was his first outing in the event in the virtual series and he became the second Raider to break 54 seconds in the event. Sophomore Alec Burger posted a big two-second improvement, completing his swim in 54.35 seconds.

Junior Matt Bochanski swam the 200-yard IM in 2:02.42, while junior Christian Sawyer swam 2:10.69. Sophomore Tylor Yakaitis swam 2:12.06.

Swimming continues at 11 a.m. Saturday.
