SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's swimming team began its second virtual meet on Friday with several highlights, completing the first of two sessions inside Donald N. Miller Pool.
The momentum of the night began with excellent swims in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Freshman
Michael Salvatori completed the distance for the first time this season with a time of 10:04.27 that should situate him among the Top 10 swimmers on the current iteration of the conference performance list.
Senior
Eric Zimmerman swam 10:28.79, an improvement of 10 seconds from his effort in the first virtual meet, and sophomore
Michael Hannig swam 10:35.55 to mark an improvement of more than a minute.
Junior
Matt Bochanski dropped four seconds off his seed time in the 200-yard individual medley (IM), posting a time of 1:58.56. Fellow junior
Trevor Woolwine improved his seed time by eight seconds with an excellent swim of 2:00.35. Junior
Vin Salvatore swam 2:01.21.
Senior
Hunter Keck paced the Raiders in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.84 seconds. Junior
Andrew Hale posted a time of 22.07 seconds, redshirt-freshman
JC Greenwood touched the wall in 22.33 seconds, and sophomore
Elijah Zinn swam 22.38 seconds.
Hale paced the Raiders in the 100-yard butterfly, swimming 53.24 seconds, while Greenwood (1:44.13) and Salvatori (1:44.32) were neck and neck in the 200-yard freestyle.
The Raiders are back at it tomorrow at 1 p.m. for the second session of Virtual Meet #2.
