The Shippensburg University women's swimming team came up short in a dual meet at Clarion on Friday night, with the host Golden Eagles claiming victory by a 163-42 score.
 
Shippensburg received a pair of performances that satisfied the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying standard, as freshman Lauren Croll took second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.94 seconds and sophomore Alyssa Tomb completed the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:36.40.
 
SU opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, as sophomore Marissa Bittner, Croll, senior Tomomi Nakano and senior Madison Breiner completed their swim in 4:12.12.
 
To conclude the meet, the 400-yard freestyle quartet of Nakano, Croll, junior Marina Cote and Breiner finished second in a time of 3:52.57.
 
Shippensburg returns to action in two weeks with competition at the three-day Franklin & Marshall Invitational.
