SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Treasure George scored a career-high 24 points as all five starters for the Shippensburg University women's basketball team posted double figures on Tuesday night in a 78-69 victory over Goldey-Beacom at Heiges Field House.
 
Shippensburg (3-2) shot 46 percent from the field, won the rebounding advantage by 12 and shot a season-best 78 percent (25-of-32) at the free-throw line. SU also scored 40 points in the paint.
 
Goldey-Beacom (2-2) scored 44 points in the first half and led by one at the break, but the Raider defense limited the Lightning to 24-percent shooting and just 25 points in the second half. A 10-2 run midway through the third quarter flipped a four-point GBC lead into a four-point SU lead, and the Raiders led by as many as 10 points down the stretch.
 
George, who posted double figures for the second time in her career, equaled her previous career high in the first quarter by scoring 12 points in the first 10 minutes. She finished 7-of-11 from the field, including a three-pointer, and was 9-of-12 at the free-throw line. She also grabbed six rebounds and had two assists.
 
Junior Lauren Pettis posted her second double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Pettis was 6-of-9 from the field and blocked three shots. Senior Destiny Jefferson added 11 points, seven assists and four steals.
 
Junior Lauren Mills finished with 10 points, including a perfect 8-of-8 performance at the free-throw line, to complement five rebounds and two assists. Freshman Taja Colbert, who made her first collegiate start, scored a career-high 10 points to go along with five rebounds and two assists.
 
Freshman Ali Hauck provided strong minutes off the bench at the forward position, scoring six points on 3-of-5 shooting to go along with nine rebounds and five blocks – of which her rebound and block totals were huge career highs.
 
Goldey-Beacom got a game-high 27 points from Briana Seltzer and 11 points from both Alexis Harrison and Mickey Williams. The Lightning scored 25 points off turnovers and got 27 points from their bench.
 
Shippensburg is back in action at 2 p.m. Sunday when it hosts Salem at Heiges Field House.
