SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Junior
Carlos Carter scored a career-high 26 points to lead four Raiders in double figures Wednesday night as the Shippensburg University men's basketball team dispatched Wilmington, 84-66, in a non-conference match at Heiges Field House.
Shippensburg (2-1) opened on a 19-2 run before the game's first media timeout occurred at the 15:28 mark and made 10 of its first 14 field-goal attempts on the night. SU led by as many as 26 points (47-21) in the first half and never trailed in the wire-to-wire win.
Wilmington (0-3) opened the second half on a 14-2 run but could not get any closer than within 12 points of the lead the rest of the way.
Carter made a career-high 10 field goals, including a career-high five three-pointers on 10 attempts, to surpass his previous career high of 22 points achieved on two occasions. He also had five rebounds, three assists and two steals while playing all 40 minutes on the night.
Redshirt-junior
Dom Sleva recorded his first double-double of the season and the eighth of his career with 13 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. Sleva was an efficient 4-of-6 from the field, including 2-of-2 from three-point range, and added two assists. Six of his 16 rebounds were on the offensive glass.

Rashon Johnson scored a season-high 21 points on 10-of-16 shooting to go along with seven rebounds, three steals and two assists. Junior
Luke Nedrow added 15 points, four rebounds and two assists.
Running the point was senior
Kiyon Hardy, who had seven points, five rebounds and seven assists while committing just two turnovers. Among his assists were a couple of crowd-pleasing alley-oops to Carter.
SU outrebounded the Wildcats by 16 and equaled its early season high with eight three-pointers.
Wilmington got 20 points from Justin Thomas and 17 points from Randy Rickards.
Shippensburg returns to action in six days when it hosts Cal U. at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Heiges Field House.
