SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University field hockey team tied the single-game record for goals on Senior Day with a 12-0 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) win over Mercyhurst on a sunny Saturday at Robb Sports Complex.

Shippensburg (8-0, 3-0 PSAC) had its seniors total nine goals and nine assists in the victory. Senior
Jenna Sluymer had a career high with four goals and added two assists, senior
Jazmin Petrantonio posted a hat trick and had one assist, freshman
Valu Paul scored her first two collegiate goals, and senior
Kalah Williams had a career day with two goals and an assist.

SU had a 1-0 lead after the first quarter. On a penalty corner taken by graduate

Tori Albright passed to Sluymer for the opening goal. Albright had a career-high two assists.

In the second quarter, it was a different story. The Raiders found the back of the goal four times. A goal from Sluymer with 23:21 left to go in the second quarter, and 30 seconds later, SU got a goal from Petrantonio with an assist from Sluymer. With a minute left in the second quarter, Paul scored her first two collegiate goals with just 22 seconds between each goal.

The third quarter was another dominant performance by the Raiders, with three goals coming from Sluymer, Petrantonio and a first collegiate goal for freshman
Nya Gilchrist.

In the fourth quarter, the Raiders would score four goals. Williams scored twice, while senior
Adrienne McGarrigle contributed a career-high two assists.Â

The Raider defense was resilient and did not allow the Lakers a shot or a penalty corner.

Mercyhurst's (0-10, 0-3 PSAC) goalkeepers had 45 saves for the day, with Kayla Desormeau saving 25, while Libby Jones saving 15. The team also had five defensive saves.

Shippensburg is back in action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday when it hosts rival No. 2 West Chester for a conference match at Robb Sports Complex.
