SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's swimming team came up short in a home dual meet against reigning conference champion IUP on Wednesday night, dropping a 151-54 decision to the Crimson Hawks in action at Donald N. Miller Pool.
 
Freshman Lauren Croll picked up a pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) cuts on the night, finishing second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.95 seconds and third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.07.
 
Croll also posted an impressive 50-yard breaststroke split of 24.11 seconds on the 200-yard medley relay (senior Tomomi Nakano, sophomore Alyssa Tomb, freshman Kristin Gebhard) that finished second in 1:53.28 to open the meet.
 
Nakano met the PSAC standard in the 100-yard backstroke, swimming 1:00.93, while sophomore Michaela Hersh took second in the 200-yard IM and senior Madison Breiner finished second in the 500-yard freestyle.
 
The quartet of sophomore Sammy Taylor, Breiner, freshman Gracie Wetzel and Breiner concluded the meet with a second-place finish of 1:45.80 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
 
IUP (1-0) broke two Donald N. Miller Pool records on the night, with the 200-yard medley relay swimming 1:48.63 to open the meet and national champion Paige Mikesell completing the 200-yard freestyle in an NCAA 'B' cut of 1:52.71 to shatter the 35-year-old pool record by more than two seconds.
 
Shippensburg returns to action Friday, Oct. 22 with a tri-meet against Fairmont State and Cal U. that is hosted by Cal U.
