SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — The Shippensburg University women's basketball team will face Gannon at 1 p.m. Saturday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Semifinal at IUP's Kovalchick Complex.
It is the first PSAC Women's Basketball semifinal appearance for the Raiders since the 2016-17 season, when the Raiders hosted the Final Four at Heiges Field House. SU lost in overtime to IUP in 2017 by a 67-58 score.
It is the first meeting between Shippensburg and Gannon since Dec. 18, 2018 — a 95-56 Golden Knight win in Erie. GU has won five of the last six in the series. It is the first time the two teams have met in the PSAC Tournament.

PSAC TOURNAMENT HISTORY:
- SHIP is making its 22nd PSAC Tournament appearance in school history.
- SHIP has a 27-15 record in the PSAC Tournament. The Tournament's first year was 1980.
- SHIP has reached the PSAC Championship game eight times, having posted a 6-2 record.
- SHIP's six PSAC Championships are tied for the most in league history; its six PSAC Championships all came consecutively as the Raiders posted an 18-0 record in the PSAC Tournament from 1996-2001.
- Head Coach Kristy Trn has posted a 13-12 career record in the PSAC Tournament.
- SHIP's last PSAC Tournament victory prior to this season was a 60-44 home quarterfinal victory over Bloomsburg on Mar. 1, 2017.
20-WIN SEASONS:
- SHIP has now achieved seven 20-win seasons under coach Kristy Trn and twelve 20-win seasons in its history. Prior to this season, its most recent came in 2016-17, a 24-7 season in which the Raiders went 16-0 against the PSAC East, marking the first time a PSAC team went unbeaten in divisional play since Gannon in 2009-10. The Raiders also became the first team in PSAC history to have five 1,000-point scorers on the floor at the same time.
GETTING TO THE FREE-THROW LINE
- SHIP leads the nation in free throws made (536) and free-throw attempts (748).
- SHIP averages 25.8 free-throw attempts per game, including at least 15 free-throw attempts in every game.
- This is the 10th consecutive season that SHIP has ranked among the Top 4 teams in the PSAC in made free throws, and SHIP was among the PSAC's Top 2 teams in the category for eight straight seasons from (2009-10 — 2016-17).
- Last season, Ariel Jones set PSAC single-season records with 234 free throws and 297 free-throw attempts.
SUCCESS IN 2020
- Since the beginning of the New Year, SHIP is 15-3 and averaging 74.1 points per game while limiting opponents to 65.0 points per game. The Raiders are shooting 40.7 percent from the field while holding opponents to 37.0 percent shooting (25.4 percent from three-point range).
- SHIPÂ is also shooting 74.7 percent from the free-throw line and out-rebounding opponents by an average of 7.6 rebounds per game during this 18-game stretch.
