SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's basketball team got a game-high 29 points Wednesday night from junior
Ariel Jones to lead four in double figures as the Raiders defeated Shepherd, 73-57, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Quarterfinal at Heiges Field House.
Shippensburg (21-8) out-rebounded Shepherd (21-9) by 20 (49-29) in a wire-to-wire victory, finishing the game with 17 second-chance points and 25 points off 19 Ram turnovers. The Raiders shot a season-best 88 percent at the free-throw line, making 22-of-25 attempts. Jones was 14-of-14 at the free-throw line, tying for the third-most free throws ever made in a PSAC Tournament game.
Shepherd shot 43 percent from the field but was 1-of-19 (5.3 percent) from three-point range and 2-of-10 (20 percent) at the free-throw line. Sydney Clayton had 26 points on 13-of-16 shooting for the Rams, while freshman Abby Beeman had 15 points, eight rebounds and 11 assists.
Jones' 29-point night featured her 6-of-15 from the field (3-of-11 from three-point range) in addition to her perfect accuracy at the free-throw line. She had seven rebounds and three steals. Jones is now tied with Edinboro alumna Samantha Reimer for second in PSAC history with 640 made free throws.

Destiny Jefferson was active with 10 points, eight assists, four rebounds and four steals. It is the second-most assists in a game this season for Jefferson. Sophomore forward
Aunbrielle Green had 13 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals.

Kryshell Gordy was limited on the night but still managed 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting and had seven rebounds in 24 minutes.

Treasure George were key off the bench. Pettis scored five points and had a season-high 14 rebounds, marking the 11th time in her career she has recorded double-digit rebounds. George had six points and four rebounds.
With the win, Shippensburg will finish the year with a 14-1 record at Heiges Field House.
Shippensburg will face Gannon at 1 p.m. Saturday in a game played at IUP's Kovalchick Complex.
