The Shippensburg University lacrosse team could not get past No. 2 West Chester on Wednesday afternoon in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division opener, dropping a 19-7 decision to the Golden Rams in action at Vonnie Gros Field.

Shippensburg (3-3) yielded the first six goals to West Chester (2-0) before scoring twice to get within 6-2 with 11 minutes left the in the first half. The Golden Rams countered, and established a 12-4 halftime lead. Tatum Altman paced the hosts with six goals and three assists.

The Raiders finished with the advantage in draw controls, 15-13. Sophomore
Hannah Seifried led the team with six and had one of the Raider goals. Sophomore
Gabby Savarino had four draw controls and a goal, while junior
Maddy Siejk collected three draw controls and scored twice in the final nine minutes.

Jena MacDonald had a three-point day, totaling a goal and two assists. Senior
Kami Holt and freshman
Kayla Jones were also credited with goals. Junior
Alana Cardaci was limited to one assist.

Clairanne Chairs had team highs of three caused turnovers and three groundballs along the back lines. Siejk had two caused turnovers and two groundballs.

Ally Weneta finished with nine saves.
