The Shippensburg University lacrosse team achieved a signature early-season victory Wednesday at No. 21 Seton Hill, defeating the Griffins by a 10-9 score on a cool and damp afternoon at Dick's Field in Greensburg.

Shippensburg (2-1) trailed 7-2 with 10 minutes left in the first half but held Seton Hill (2-1) to just two goals over the final 40 minutes. The Raiders committed just 15 turnovers, recorded clears on 17-of-20 opportunities and got nine saves and seven groundballs from freshman goalkeeper

Hannah Seifried and
Gabby Savarino each recorded hat tricks for the third straight game to begin the season. Seifried finished with three goals, an assist, two draw controls and a caused turnover. Savarino had three goals, including the game-winner with 8:51 remaining, to go along with three groundballs and a pair of caused turnovers.

Seton Hill, who beat Shippensburg last year 18-10 at Robb Sports Complex, posted a 15-6 edge in draws on Wednesday but committed 21 turnovers. Three Griffins had two goals, but leading scorer Kristi Kada was held to one goal on six shots.

Shippensburg returns home Saturday for a 1 p.m. clash with No. 23-ranked New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) at Robb Sports Complex.
