SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's basketball team used a balanced scoring effort Saturday to sweep the regular-season series from Lock Haven, defeating the Bald Eagles by a 72-64 score in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup from Heiges Field House.
Shippensburg (18-7, 15-4 PSAC) allowed 26 first-quarter points to Lock Haven (11-12, 8-10), but out-scored the Bald Eagles 23-8 in the second quarter to lead by eight at halftime. SU held a 12-point lead with just more than six minutes remaining but Lock Haven got within four points, 66-62, with 2:30 remaining.
The Raiders were 21-of-26 (80.8 percent) at the free-throw line in the game, and made 6-of-6 in the final 2:30 to pull away. The SU defense also held Lock Haven to 38-percent shooting on the day and just 38 points over the final three quarters.

Kryshell Gordy recorded her second double-double of the season and the 11th double-double of her career with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Gordy also had four assists, two blocks and two steals. It was her eighth game scoring in double figures this season.

Ariel Jones scored 14 points, making 10-of-11 at the free-throw line, to complement two assists and two steals. Junior
Destiny Jefferson had 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting to go along with three assists.
Sophomore
Aunbrielle Green posted double figures for the 13th time this season, scoring 11 points. Green also had six rebounds and two assists. Fellow sophomore
Lauren Pettis scored seven of her nine points in SU's decisive second quarter – she was a perfect 4-of-4 from the field on the day.
Sophomore
Lauren Mills scored eight points, making a pair of three-pointers, to go along with four rebounds. Freshman
Treasure George scored five points – including a fourth-quarter three-pointer – grabbed a career-high five rebounds, recorded two assists, and drew three charges on defense.
The Raiders posted a positive assist-to-turnover ratio (13 assists, 12 turnovers) for the first time in seven games, and scored 22 second-chance points – just two off a season high.
Lock Haven got 16 points from Rileigh Devine and 11 from Marena Lonardi. Jaynelle Robinson had nine points and 11 rebounds off the bench.
SU improved to 12-1 at home this season and now holds a 2.5-game division lead over Shepherd, Kutztown and East Stroudsburg.
Shippensburg is off Wednesday and returns to action at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bloomsburg.
