The Shippensburg University women's basketball team came up short Wednesday in a game that featured four lead changes in the final four minutes, as the Raiders dropped a 65-62 decision to host West Chester in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup from Hollinger Field House.
Shippensburg (8-6, 5-3 PSAC) overcame an early 11-point deficit by holding West Chester (4-9, 2-6) to just seven points in the second quarter, creating a 28-28 score at halftime. After starting the third quarter on a 5-0 run, SU yielded a 13-0 run to the hosts, and the Golden Rams led 45-42 entering the final frame.
The Raiders used an 11-2 run to tie the score at 56-56 with 4:59 left. SU held a 60-59 lead with 1:46 left, but the Golden Rams used a couple of turnovers and a pair of field goals to go up four, 64-60, with 36 seconds left. SU was down two with five seconds left but committed a turnover, which resulted in 1-of-2 free throws for West Chester. The Raiders got off a three-pointer before the buzzer that went for naught.
Shippensburg was held to its second-lowest scoring output of the season. The Raiders shot 35.5 percent from the field, including 6-of-22 (27.3 percent) from three-point range. SU did manage a 48-37 rebounding advantage.
WCU shot just 38 percent from the field, including just 18 percent (4-of-22) from three-point range, but the Golden Rams committed just eight turnovers while recording 14 steals, forcing 18 Raider turnovers and scoring 26 points off those turnovers.

Destiny Jefferson scored a season-high 25 points on 7-of-18 shooting. Jefferson was 3-of-7 from three-point range and 8-of-9 at the free-throw line in achieving her 16th career 20-point game. She also had nine rebounds and three assists, finishing just shy of a double-double.
Junior
Kryshell Gordy also finished one rebound shy of a double-double, posting 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting to complement nine rebounds. It is Gordy's fourth double-digit scoring effort of the season.

Ariel Jones finished with 12 points on 5-of-15 shooting. Jones added six rebounds and a block.
Sophomore
Aunbrielle Green finished with four points, seven rebounds and three assists. Freshman
Treasure George scored five points.
Shippensburg is on the road Saturday to face East Stroudsburg at 1 p.m. from Koehler Fieldhouse.
