The Shippensburg University wrestling team was unable to get past perennial national power Pitt-Johnstown on Friday night, dropping a 44-0 dual meet to the No. 4-ranked Mountain Cats in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup inside Heiges Field House.
 
The Raiders had a couple of close bouts, with the most exciting coming at 197 pounds. Redshirt-junior Alexi Castro was even at 3-3 entering the final seconds, but Alex Delp earned a late takedown at the horn for a 5-3 decision.
 
Redshirt-junior Pat Duggan achieved a takedown in his match at 157 pounds, but dropped a 7-3 decision to Nate Smith.
 
Pitt-Johnstown claimed all 10 bouts, including five by bonus points. With the win, head coach Pat Pecora achieved his 616th career victory – tying him with former Oregon State head coach Dale Thomas for the most wins by a head coach spanning all divisions of the NCAA.
 
Shippensburg returns to action next Saturday, Feb. 8, with a busy day of home wrestling from Heiges Field House. SU hosts East Stroudsburg at 10 a.m., Millersville at noon, American International at 2 p.m. and Belmont Abbey at 6 p.m.
 
The Raiders will conduct a Senior Day ceremony in advance of the 10 a.m. match and an Alumni Day ceremony in advance of the noon match.
