SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University baseball team could not cool the bats of visiting Shepherd on Tuesday afternoon, as the Raiders dropped a non-conference game to the Rams by a 23-10 score on a sunny, windy day at Fairchild Field.

Shippensburg (12-18) and Shepherd (23-10) combined for 36 hits, 13 walks, and 20 runners left on base in a game that featured a lot of offense and just one inning (the sixth) in which neither team plated a run. Each team hit three home runs.

Sophomore
Scout Knotts homered in each of his first two at-bats, slugging a solo shot in the bottom of the second and a two-run shot in the third. Knotts later added a sacrifice fly to finish the day with four RBIs. Freshman
Justin Darden crushed a pinch-hit, three-run homer to left in the seventh.

Senior
Jack Goertzen reached base five times, going 3-for-4 with a double, RBI, and two walks. Senior
Tommy Baggett reached base four times with two singles and two walks. Freshman
Tony Vavaroutsos had three hits and an RBI.

Sophomore
Logan Williamson got on base four times, including a pair of walks, while senior
Ty Painter had two hits off the bench. Junior
Jacob Pollock had two hits, and junior
Zack Zoller hit a triple.

Jack Jenkens faced the minimum in his first two innings of relief, striking out three over the course of the fifth and sixth innings before running into trouble in the seventh. Jenkens finished with five of SU's 13 strikeouts from the mound. Junior
Kyle Lysy struck out four in his four-inning start.

Shepherd got a home run and six RBIs from Christian Hamel, while Brenton Doyle had a homer and four RBIs. Nick Atkinson launched a pinch-hit, three-run home run in the eighth and drew a bases-loaded walk in the ninth. Eddie Nottingham had four hits, including a triple, and four runs scored.
