The Shippensburg University softball team clinched a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament berth for the third consecutive year on Saturday with a road doubleheader sweep at Millersville, defeating the Marauders by scores of 11-5 and 10-3 to claim all four games in the season series.
Shippensburg (24-18, 9-5 PSAC East) had a torrid day at the plate, totaling 25 hits and nine walks in the doubleheader. The Raiders' 21 combined runs marks the most scored by the team in a PSAC East doubleheader since the 2005 season.
SU scored four runs in the first inning of Game 1 to chase MU starter Catherine Johnson and took a 7-1 through two innings of the opener. The Raiders scored four more times in the fourth inning to take an 11-2 lead. In Game 2, SU used a six-run second inning to take control.
