RECAP: Men’s Basketball Drops PSAC Quarterfinal at West Chester, 89-72

Biss leads SU with 19 points; Sleva equals career high off bench with 18 points

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's basketball team came up short on Wednesday night in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men's Basketball Quarterfinal at West Chester, dropping an 89-72 decision to the Golden Rams from Hollinger Field House.
 
Shippensburg (23-7) was eliminated from the PSAC Tournament with the loss, and now awaits Sunday night's selection show to see if it will receive an at-large tournament berth for the NCAA Division II National Championships. Earlier on Wednesday, the Raiders were ranked sixth in the Atlantic Region.
 
West Chester (21-7) advances to face IUP on Saturday in a PSAC Semifinal.  
 
Sophomore Jake Biss led the Raiders with 19 points. He made three of SU's nine three-pointers on the night, added four assists and recorded three steals. Senior Antonio Kellem added 11 points, four rebounds and four assists, while fellow senior Manny Span contributed six points and seven rebounds.
 
Junior Lamar Talley equaled Biss with three three-pointers, totaling nine points. Off the bench, redshirt-freshman Dom Sleva equaled his career high with 18 points – shooting 5-of-8 from the field, including 2-of-4 from three-point range, and making 6-of-6 at the free-throw line.
 
West Chester opened the game on a 14-0 run and never trailed. After the initial surge, SU got it to 16-9 at the 13:07 mark of the first half, but WCU countered with another 11-3 run and then closed the half on a 9-2 run to take a 49-28 lead at halftime. In the second half, Shippensburg was never able to get the deficit below 15 points.
