SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University baseball team came up short on Saturday in a pair of home games against regional rival No. 28 Millersville, falling 16-5 and 4-3 to the Marauders in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchups from Fairchild Field.

Shippensburg (11-14, 3-5 PSAC East) dropped to fifth place in the division through the first two PSAC East weekends, while Millersville (20-7, 7-1) moved into a tie for first place with West Chester (16-5, 7-1).

SU totaled 18 hits in the doubleheader, but also committed nine errors. Of the 20 runs yielded by the Raiders on the day, only seven were earned. Shippensburg's starting pitchers: redshirt-sophomore

SU fell behind 5-0 in Game 1 before a three-run third inning made the score 5-3. The Marauders broke Game 1 open in the fourth, however, scoring seven unearned runs with two outs. In the nightcap, the Raiders led 3-0 through five innings before the Marauders tied it in the sixth and plated the go-ahead run in the eighth.

Hope struck out nine batters over six innings in Game 2, yielding one earned run. He did not walk a batter. Freshman
