The Shippensburg University men's swimming team Saturday completed its annual tri-meet against West Chester and host Southern Connecticut State with a split, defeating the host Owls but falling to the Golden Rams in competition from New Haven.
 
Sophomores Trevor Woolwine and Matt Bochanski impressed with victories on Saturday; Woolwine won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.16 seconds and Bochanski won the 200-yard breaststroke by more than two seconds with a time of 2:09.30.
 
Overall, Shippensburg had 10 individual swims that satisfied the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying standards. Bochanski also placed second in the 200-yard IM, touching the wall in 2:02.46, while sophomore Vin Salvatore was close behind in 2:03.05. Salvatore also had a PSAC cut in the 200-yard breaststroke of 2:17.01.
 
Woolwine was the SU pacesetter in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a conference cut of 54.06 seconds. Senior Jeff Beyer equaled the PSAC standard in the 50-yard freestyle, swimming 22.71 seconds.
 
All three Raiders who competed in the 200-yard backstroke met the PSAC standard for the event. Freshman David Bussard took third in 2:02.03, while senior Nick Bloom was close behind in 2:02.65. Freshman Michael Hannig swam 2:04.07.
 
SU's 400-yard freestyle relay concluded the meet with a second-place finish, as sophomore Andrew Hale, junior Hunter Keck, Woolwine and Beyer swam 3:11.57.
 
Hannig, Hale, Salvatore and Beyer completed the 200-yard medley relay in a third-place time of 1:39.68.
 
Shippensburg returns to action at 5 p.m. Friday with a Homecoming meet against Fairmont State from Donald N. Miller Pool.
