RECAP: Men’s Soccer Rallies to Earn 2-2 Draw at Slippery Rock

Horstmann, Crabbe score second-half goals to erase Raider deficit

The Shippensburg University men's soccer team returned to action Saturday and scored twice in the second half to rally and earn a 2-2 draw in a non-conference matchup at Slippery Rock on a cool day from James Egli Field.

Shippensburg (1-4-3) trailed 2-0 at halftime against Slippery Rock (4-4-2) but found the back of the net twice in a six-minute span to even the score. Sophomore Julian Horstmann scored his second goal of the season in the 80th minute, and freshman Seth Crabbe caged his third of the year with 4:59 remaining in regulation.

Both of the goals came with SU holding a man-advantage, as The Rock's Luke Picchi was issued a red card with 23 minutes to play. The teams also combined for seven yellow cards.

Shots-on-goal were even at 11-11; senior Bradley Brickman was credited with eight saves and a team save was credited to Shippensburg in the 102nd minute off a Slippery Rock shot. Corner kicks were 12-8 in The Rock's favor.

With the shift to two divisions this year in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), Saturday's matchup between Shippensburg (Eastern Division) and Slippery Rock (Western Division) was considered a non-conference crossover.

Shippensburg returns to divisional play at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday when it travels to Bloomsburg for a rematch with the Huskies. SU won the first meeting 2-1 at home back on September 18.
