Raiders improve to 3-0 behind goals from Bell, Moore

The Shippensburg University women's soccer team scored a goal in each half Wednesday to win its third straight match to start the 2018 season, as the Raiders posted a 2-0 shutout at Mansfield on a rather humid evening from the MU Soccer Field.

Shippensburg (3-0, 2-0 PSAC) opened the scoring in the 35th minute on a goal from sophomore Casey Bell that was assisted by sophomore Taylor Moore. The goal is the second of Bell's career and came in her fourth collegiate contest.

In the 86th minute, Moore finished a breakaway for her third goal of the season and the eighth of her career. It was the highlight of a second half in which the Raiders posted a 7-0 advantage in shots on goal. Overall, SU held a 7-2 edge in corner kicks – including a 3-0 margin in the second half.

Sophomore goalkeeper Delaney Shifflett made four saves in achieving her second shutout of the season and the fourth solo shutout of her young career.

Shippensburg has achieved its first 3-0 start since 2010.

Wednesday's match was delayed for a half hour due to lightning in the 16th minute of play.
