The Shippensburg University lacrosse team was held to a season low in scoring on Tuesday as it dropped a 13-4 decision to Millersville in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup from soggy Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.

Shippensburg (5-5, 1-4 PSAC) got a pair of second-half goals off the bench from senior
T.J. Johnson, while seniors
Jordan Kengor and
Allison Fugate also scored for the Raiders. SU managed a season-low 17 shots, and was held to less than 10 goals for just the second time in 10 games this season.

Millersville (7-3, 3-3) raced out to a 6-1 lead after the first 7:17 of the contest before the two teams went the next 22 minutes without a goal. The Marauders scored in the final 30 seconds of the first half to take a 7-1 lead into the halftime intermission.

The Marauders won all nine of the first half draw controls and benefitted offensively from their success in the circle. SU did record 11 caused turnovers in the first half, but managed just one goal on seven shots in the first 30 minutes. Overall, Millersville posted a 14-5 advantage in draw controls on the day.

Defensively for the Raiders, junior
Valerie Hertz had six groundballs, five caused turnovers and a pair of draw controls. Kengor and senior
Caroline Carbonaro had three groundballs, while freshman
KiKi Brasher made four saves and collected three groundballs.

The Marauders got hat tricks from Callie Kavanaugh and Sabrina Fusco. Kavanaugh also had two assists to lead all players with five points. Goalkeeper Bryana Weston-Wyatt stopped eight of the 12 shots she faced on the day.

Shippensburg travels this weekend for a 1 p.m. matchup on Saturday at Seton Hill.
