Gallagher Wins No. 1 Singles Debut in Tennis Match With Shepherd

SU falls to Rams, 6-3, claiming a pair of default victories

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Junior Kaylin Gallagher won her debut at No. 1 singles on Tuesday to highlight the home finale for the Shippensburg University women's tennis team on a windy and cool afternoon from the Robb Sports Complex Tennis Courts. Shippensburg dropped its dual meet to Shepherd, 6-3.

Gallagher has been elevated two singles flights this season due to injury and on Tuesday participated at No. 1 singles for the first time in her collegiate career. She dispatched Zoie O'Neal, 6-2, 6-1, for her fourth singles win of the year.

At No. 1 doubles, Gallagher and sophomore Daisy Rundio nearly battled to a win, coming up just short in an 8-6 setback. Juniors Victoria Galanti and Megan Moorhead combined to win two games at No. 2 doubles.

In singles play, Galanti won three games at the no. 5 flight. Rundio, junior Hannah Coath and Moorhead each won a game in their respective singles matches.

Shippensburg travels to West Chester on Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. conference matchup with the Golden Rams.
