SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University wrestling team won three bouts on Tuesday night and celebrated six seniors as it closed out the regular-season home schedule with a matchup against No. 11 Pitt-Johnstown. The visiting Mountain Cats posted five pins en route to a 39-9 victory over the Raiders.
 
Redshirt-senior Evan Ramos ranked No. 1 in Super Region 1 and No. 3 in the nation, faced off in the highlight match of the night against Levi Niebauer, the No. 2-ranked wrestler in Super Region 1 and No. 7 in the nation. With the match 1-1 in the third period, Ramos secured a takedown with about a minute remaining en route to a 3-2 decision.  
 
The victory improved Ramos' season record to 18-1, including 14-0 in dual meets. His career record is now 92-15 in a Raider uniform.
 
Senior Cody Blankenship also emerged a victor on Senior Night, posting a wild 16-11 decision over Corey Falleroni. Blankenship scored some early takedowns and used a four-point near fall at the end of the first period and a later two-point near fall to secure a sizable advantage.
 
Blankenship has now won nine of his last 11 matches and improved to 10-6 on the season (9-4 in dual meets).
 
Redshirt-freshman Alexi Castro also emerged victorious, claiming a hard-fought 7-3 decision over Alex Delp. Castro scored a pair of late takedowns in the third period for his third collegiate victory.
 
Overall, SU honored its six seniors before Tuesday's match: Blankenship, Jared Leonetti, Chris Miller, Ramos, Mike Springer and Dante Steffenino. Leonetti competed at 141 pounds Tuesday night.
 
Shippensburg travels to West Liberty this weekend for a 3 p.m. matchup with the Hilltoppers.
