The No. 3-seeded Shippensburg University field hockey team will face No. 2 seed East Stroudsburg in a 2018 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Semifinal on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Vonnie Gros Field on the campus of West Chester University.
The winner of Friday's Semifinal will face the winner of the game between No. 1 seed West Chester and No. 4 seed Millersville in Sunday's PSAC Championship game.
Shippensburg (15-3) is playing in the PSAC Semifinals for the third straight season. The Raiders faced ESU twice this season and the Warriors claimed both matches, 4-0 at SU on Sept. 19 and 3-0 at ESU on Oct. 3.
East Stroudsburg (15-3) is the only team to shutout the Raiders in 2018. The last time the teams faced off in the postseason, SU claimed a 2-1 victory in the NCAA Semifinals.
The Warriors earned a first-round bye into the semifinals, while Shippensburg defeated Bloomsburg 2-1 in overtime on Tuesday in the PSAC Quarterfinals. Junior
Rosalia Cappadora scored the game-winner off a penalty corner. Sophomore
Jazmin Petrantonio also scored in the contest, while senior goaltender
Ally Mooney made seven saves.
The Raiders are 16-26 all-time in the PSAC Championships dating back to 1979. SU's lone PSAC title came in 2005.
