SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Junior
John Castello led a group of four Raiders in double figures with 19 points Wednesday night as the Shippensburg University men's basketball team defeated Wilson, 101-74, in a non-conference matchup from Heiges Field House.
Shippensburg (3-0) had 11 different players score points against NCAA Division III opponent Wilson (1-2), with Castello shooting 7-of-9 from the field including 3-of-5 from three-point range. Sophomore
Jake Biss added 17 points on the night.
The Raiders got 45 points from its bench, highlighted by 12 points each from redshirt-freshman
Dom Sleva and junior
Jermaine Samuel. Sleva added five rebounds and four assists on 5-of-8 shooting; Samuel was 5-of-6 from the field and tied for the team lead with six rebounds.
Senior
Antonio Kellem scored nine points and handed out a career-high eight assists. Redshirt-senior
Manny Span had eight points and six rebounds. Off the bench, junior
Broguen Nicholas scored seven points, while junior
Daylon Carter scored six points, including a late dunk.
Wilson got a game-high 22 points from Keion Adams, while Rashaan Bean added 16 points. Off the bench, Ian Hess was 4-of-5 from the field for 10 points.
