SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The No. 3-seeded Shippensburg University field hockey team will host a 2018 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Quarterfinal at 4 p.m. Tuesday against No. 6 seed Bloomsburg from Robb Sports Complex.
The winner of Tuesday's quarterfinal will face No. 2 seed East Stroudsburg at 3:30 p.m. Friday in a conference semifinal at West Chester.
Shippensburg (14-3) is playing in the PSAC Quarterfinals for the first time since 2015 after earning byes straight into the PSAC Semifinals in each of the last two seasons. The Raiders were defeated at home by Bloomsburg (11-6) in the 2015 PSAC Quarterfinals, 3-2. That is the last time that the two teams have faced one another in the PSAC Championships.
Earlier this season, Shippensburg posted a 2-0 victory at Bloomsburg. Freshmen
Jenna Sluymer and
Adrienne McGarrigle scored goals while redshirt-senior goalkeeper
Ally Mooney made four saves for a shutout.
The Raiders are 15-26 all-time in the PSAC Championships dating back to 1979. Shippensburg's last PSAC Tournament victory was a 2016 conference semifinal over West Chester (2-1 at East Stroudsburg). SU's lone PSAC title came in 2005.
