SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's basketball team had five players post double figures on Saturday and senior center
Kristin McGeough recorded her fifth double-double of the season as the Raiders won their second straight game with an 82-65 victory over Cheyney in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup from Heiges Field House.
Shippensburg (3-12, 2-7 PSAC) has been a strong third-quarter team this season and once again put forth an impressive surge coming out of halftime. The Raiders made 8-of-9 field goals to conclude the third quarter, including an 8-0 scoring run, to build an 11-point lead entering the fourth. SU did not trail by less than 10 points the rest of the game.
Cheyney (3-13, 1-9) led by four points after the first quarter, 18-14, before the Raiders rallied to take a 37-32 lead into the intermission. The Wolves bookended their afternoon by shooting 40 percent or better in the first and the fourth quarter, but shot just 29 percent from the field in the middle 20 minutes of play.
McGeough achieved a career high in scoring for the second straight game, finishing with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting to complement 13 rebounds. McGeough also had two assists, two blocks and two steals.
Freshman
Ariel Jones totaled 16 points, five assists and three steals. Jones was 7-of-15 from the field and hit a pair of three-pointers en route to her 15th straight game posting double figures. It was the first time in her career she finished without a free throw.
Freshman
Lili Benzel matched her career high coming off the bench with 14 points in just 18 minutes of play. Benzel hit a career-high seven field goals, grabbed four rebounds and had two steals.
Senior
Victoria Blackburn had 11 points, five assists, three rebounds and two blocks. It is her seventh straight game scoring at least nine points and her third straight game with at least five assists.
Freshman
Kryshell Gordy posted double figures for the fifth time this season, scoring 11 points to go along with eight rebounds. Gordy was 3-of-4 from the field and made a career-high five free throws on seven attempts.
Freshman
Kasey Engle scored nine points, making 4-of-5 from the field, with three assists.
Shippensburg totaled 51 rebounds – 11 more than in any other game this season – to post a plus-16 rebounding margin over Cheyney. It is the most rebounds for the Raiders in a 72-game span (53 vs. Davis & Elkins on Nov. 14, 2015). SU also posted a season high in points in the paint for the second straight game, totaling 46 on Saturday.
Freshman
Jazzie Orth was a big part of SU's rebounding edge, recording a career-high 10 rebounds to go along with three assists and two blocks. Orth had totaled just 15 rebounds in her previous five games before her single-game best on Saturday.

Emily Houck made her first collegiate three-pointer on Saturday after freshman
Talia Kosierowski did so on Wednesday.
