The No. 1-ranked Shippensburg University field hockey team dropped a road decision at No. 2-ranked East Stroudsburg on Wednesday afternoon, 2-0, in a competitive matchup of top teams from Whitenight Field.

Shippensburg (2-1) posted a 16-9 advantage in shots and a 13-6 advantage in penalty corners over East Stroudsburg (3-0), but the Raiders were not able to find the back of the net. Warrior goalkeeper Halle Frisco was credited with eight saves in the victory.

The Warriors got goals from Sydney McCarthy, the reigning conference player of the week, and Melanie Shambaugh. ESU got a goal in each half. McCarthy was also credited with a defensive save.

SU was especially strong in the second half, posting a 9-4 margin in penalty corners and a 7-2 edge in shots on goal over the final 35 minutes of play. Senior Brooke Sheibley led the Raiders with six shots on goal.
