The No. 1-ranked Shippensburg University field hockey team dropped a road decision at No. 2-ranked East Stroudsburg on Wednesday afternoon, 2-0, in a competitive matchup of top teams from Whitenight Field.

Shippensburg (2-1) posted a 16-9 advantage in shots and a 13-6 advantage in penalty corners over East Stroudsburg (3-0), but the Raiders were not able to find the back of the net. Warrior goalkeeper Halle Frisco was credited with eight saves in the victory.

Ally Mooney recorded two saves in the loss for the Raiders, while sophomore
Mikayla Cheney was credited with a defensive save.

The Warriors got goals from Sydney McCarthy, the reigning conference player of the week, and Melanie Shambaugh. ESU got a goal in each half. McCarthy was also credited with a defensive save.

SU was especially strong in the second half, posting a 9-4 margin in penalty corners and a 7-2 edge in shots on goal over the final 35 minutes of play. Senior
Brooke Sheibley led the Raiders with six shots on goal.

Shippensburg remains on the road this weekend when it travels to No. 8 Bloomsburg on Saturday for a noon matchup with the Huskies.
