The Shippensburg University men's soccer team dropped its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opener on Friday afternoon, dropping a 2-0 road contest at Gannon on a warm and sunny Friday afternoon from McConnell Family Stadium.
Shippensburg (2-3-2, 0-1 PSAC) posted a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks in Friday's contest but managed just two shots on goal – both of which were turned aside by the Golden Knight keeper.
Gannon (4-4, 3-0 PSAC) opened the scoring in 11th minute when Mathias Krigbaum slammed home a rebound, giving the home team a 1-0 advantage that carried into the intermission. In the 74th minute, Eduardo de Bonis Encinoso extended the Golden Knight lead with a shot form 20 yards out.
Redshirt-junior goalkeeper
Matt Harder was stout in net for the Raiders, making eight saves in the contest. It is the second-most saves in a match this season for Harder.
Shippensburg returns to action at 3:30 p.m. Sunday when it hosts Lock Haven from David See Field.
