SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Junior

John Castello contributed double-doubles on Monday night as the Shippensburg University men's basketball team made 11 three-pointers for the second straight game en route to a 78-62 victory over Wilmington in a non-conference affair from Heiges Field House.
Shippensburg (5-0) opened the game on a 10-2 run and led by 12 points in the first eight minutes before Wilmington (3-3) got within four points of the Raiders, 22-18, midway through the opening half. SU then erupted on a 24-9 run over the next eight minutes and never looked back, leading 47-32 at the intermission.
Sleva finished with 22 points on 10-of-18 shooting, and added 11 rebounds and four assists. He has totaled a double-double in all five games this season.
Castello notched his second straight double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds, shooting 6-of-7 from the field including a three-pointer. Seven of his rebounds came on the offensive end, matching Wilmington's total for the entire game.
Junior
Justin McCarthur finished with 12 points and had a strong passing night with six assists. Sophomore
Antonio Kellem had 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Junior
Clay Conner had another strong effort as the sixth man with eight points, three rebounds, two assists, two steals and zero turnovers in 25 minutes.
Senior
Abe Massaley three points, four rebounds and three assists on a night in which he played just 23 minutes due to foul trouble. Fellow senior
Chris Nwandu had five points on 2-of-3 shooting off the bench.
Wilmington got 18 points each from Tyaire Ponzo-Meek and Nick Richards. SU was 11-of-31 (36 percent) from three-point range compared to the Wildcats, who shot just 3-of-14 (21 percent) from distance.
Shippensburg is off to its first 5-0 start since the 2008-09 season. It returns to conference play Saturday with a road matchup at No. 15 IUP. Tip-off is at 3 p.m. from Indiana.
