NORTH EASTON, Mass. -- The Shippensburg University field hockey team will face LIU Post at 1 p.m. Sunday in the 2016 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship game from W. B. Mason Stadium on the campus of Stonehill (Mass.) College.
Shippensburg (19-3) is playing in its third NCAA Championship game in school history. SU defeated the Pioneers 2-1 in overtime in the 2013 title game for its lone NCAA national title and lost to Massachusetts-Lowell 1-0 in the 2010 title game.
LIU Post (16-3) is playing in its third NCAA Championship game in the last four years, having also lost to Millersville 1-0 in the 2014 title game. The Pioneers are seeking their first NCAA Championship.
The two teams have not faced each other since the 2013 NCAA Championship game.

Shippensburg is making its 12th NCAA Tournament appearance and is 6-10 overall in NCAA postseason play. SU reached the NCAA Semifinals for the eighth time (2003, 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013).
Head coach
Bertie Landes (485-133-17 overall, 301-77-1 at SHIP) is the active Division II coaching leader for winning percentage (.777) and was inducted into the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Hall of Fame in 2011. All of SU's NCAA Tournament appearances have come with Landes at the helm.
