SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg men's basketball team opened Saturday night's game with Penn State Fayette on a 23-0 run and never looked back, routing the visiting Lions by a 98-34 score to conclude the 2016 Wolf's Bus Lines Classic from Heiges Field House.
Shippensburg (2-0) shot 52 percent from the field and had all of its players that participated finish the game with at least one point. Penn State Fayette (0-2) shot just 18 percent from the floor and committed 27 turnovers, as the Raiders out-scored the Lions 48-11 in the second half.
Junior
Dustin Sleva was named the 2016 Wolf's Bus Lines Classic Tournament MVP after providing 39 points, 29 rebounds, six steals and four assists in two games this weekend. Sleva had his second straight double-double on Saturday with 15 points, 12 rebounds and three steals in just 21 minutes.
Senior
Abe Massaley was an All-Tournament Team pick who led all scorers Saturday night with 23 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Massaley also had four assists, three rebounds and two steals. Massaley totaled 35 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in two games this weekend.
Sophomore
Antonio Kellem made it three Raiders with All-Tournament Team honors, as he scored 17 points and had four assists, three steals and three rebounds without a turnover. Kellem totaled 33 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals in two games this weekend.
Freshman
Daylon Carter had nine points in 10 minutes off the bench, shooting 3-of-5 from the field (2-of-3 from three-point range). Sophomore
Manny Span had eight points and five rebounds in the post.
Freshman
John Castello had another solid night with five points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Shippensburg begins conference play at 3 p.m. Saturday when it hosts Slippery Rock from Heiges Field House.
