The Shippensburg University football team hits the road for the third time in five weeks Saturday to take on the East Stroudsburg Warriors in the lone night game scheduled this season for the Red Raiders. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. from Eiler-Martin Stadium.

The Red Raiders and the Warriors were picked in a tie for third place in the PSAC East Preseason Coaches' Poll. SU lost last week to Bloomsburg, 17-6, while East Stroudsburg snuck past Lock Haven, 37-34.

Live audio coverage of the game will be provided by Shippensburg University's student radio station (WSYC) and over terrestrial radio at 88.7 FM. WSYC is also on Tune-In Radio. Joey Marinelli and Dustan Snyder will have the call. ESU is also providing live audio and video, with links accessible above.

Shippensburg holds a 30-18-2 advantage in the series, including a slight 12-11-1 edge in games played at ESU. SU lost last year's meeting, ending a five-game winning streak by the Red Raiders over the Warriors. The most consecutive games won in the series by SU is six, spanning 1991-2001. Overall, Shippensburg has won 12 of the last 15 meetings.

There has been plenty of points involved in the matchup as the winner has scored at least 37 points in the seven of the last eight meetings. The Red Raiders' 63 points in 2012, SU's last game at East Stroudsburg, was the most scored by either team in the history of the matchup.

Both Shippensburg and East Stroudsburg boast quarterbacks that both throw and run the ball effectively. Shippensburg quarterback Ryan Zapoticky has thrown for 898 yards through four games (eighth in the PSAC) and six touchdowns (12th in the PSAC). Zapoticky has gained 249 yards on the ground, despite having a net total of 168 due to sack yardage being subtracted from his season total.

Matt Soltes of East Stroudsburg had a 300-yard passing, 100-yard rushing performance last week. The ESU senior quarterback has thrown for 1,335 yards (second in the PSAC) and 11 touchdowns (fourth in the PSAC). Soltes is 1-1 as a starter against Shippensburg, throwing for 675 yards, rushing for 228 yards and contributing to seven touchdowns (six passing) in two starts against the Red Raiders.

Zapoticky won the PSAC Eastern Divison Offensive Player of the Week after beating Seton Hill, while Soltes took home the same honors last week after a win over Lock Haven.

The Warriors also have the leading receiver in the PSAC in Jon Schnaars, who has 536 receiving yards this season. Schnaars caught 14 passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns in ESU's win over Shippensburg at Seth Grove Stadium last season.
