SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University assistant baseball coach
Adam Sheibley was named the head baseball coach at Juniata College on Friday, August 21.
Sheibley served as the Raiders' lead assistant coach for the last three seasons, arriving at Shippensburg for the 2013 season after working two years as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Elizabethtown College.
"I couldn't be happier for Adam. Juniata absolutely got the right man," said SU head coach
Matt Jones. "I've known Adam as a player and a coach. I've seen him grow and develop his skills as a coach and leader. He will be very difficult to replace, but we've done it before and we'll do it again. I look forward to seeing the Juniata baseball program achieve much success very soon."
Sheibley, a Landisburg native, is the latest in a line of SU assistant coaches to land significant positions with new schools. Kurt Elbin (2011-12) is an assistant coach at VCU, a team that just won the Atlantic-10 title and achieved its first NCAA Tournament win since 2003. Corey Haines (2012) is an assistant coach at the University of Maryland – College Park, a team that just set a school record for wins (42), won a NCAA regional title, and had four players drafted. Ryan Bown (2008-10) is the head coach at Penn State — Harrisburg, a team that won 26 games in his debut season.
With Shippensburg, Sheibley handled multiple integral roles for head coach
Matt Jones, serving as the team's recruiting coordinator in addition to working as the team's primary instructor for hitting, base-running and infield work.
SU won at least 25 games in each of the three seasons with Sheibley on staff, reaching the NCAA Division II College World Series in 2013.
