Lacrosse Drops PSAC ‘Lax 4 Life’ Game Against No. 20 Bloomsburg, 14-6

SU gets three goals from Johnson, visiting Huskies race out to big first-half lead

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University lacrosse team dropped a 14-6 decision to No. 20 Bloomsburg on Tuesday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup at Robb Sports Complex.

Shippensburg (2-5, 0-2 PSAC) had a slow start out of the gates, falling behind 5-1 to Bloomsburg (3-2, 2-0) after the first 15 minutes of play. SU trailed 10-4 at the intermission and was out-shot 21-6 in the first half.

The Raiders did get three goals from senior Sheila Johnson, who has 99 in her career. Senior Garrie Grenfell scored twice, and sophomore Amanda Frank had a goal and two assists. Freshman Allison Fugate assisted on Johnson's third goal.

Sophomore Max Barkley paced the Raiders with three groundballs and three draw controls. Junior Tanisha Joseph was strong off the bench with two caused turnovers and three groundballs.

In goal, junior Ally Frymoyer made 11 saves. She has made eight or more saves in each of the last three games.

Bloomsburg's Julie Falk, named PSAC Player of the Week earlier in the day, had four goals and four assists for the Huskies. Goalkeeper Brittney Hegarty made eight saves.

Shippensburg is on the road for its next three matches. SU is at No. 18 Seton Hill on Friday for a 3 p.m. clash with the Griffins.
