SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University lacrosse team dropped a 14-6 decision to No. 20 Bloomsburg on Tuesday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup at Robb Sports Complex.
Shippensburg (2-5, 0-2 PSAC) had a slow start out of the gates, falling behind 5-1 to Bloomsburg (3-2, 2-0) after the first 15 minutes of play. SU trailed 10-4 at the intermission and was out-shot 21-6 in the first half.
The Raiders did get three goals from senior
Sheila Johnson, who has 99 in her career. Senior
Garrie Grenfell scored twice, and sophomore
Amanda Frank had a goal and two assists. Freshman
Allison Fugate assisted on Johnson's third goal.
Sophomore
Max Barkley paced the Raiders with three groundballs and three draw controls. Junior
Tanisha Joseph was strong off the bench with two caused turnovers and three groundballs.
In goal, junior
Ally Frymoyer made 11 saves. She has made eight or more saves in each of the last three games.
Bloomsburg's Julie Falk, named PSAC Player of the Week earlier in the day, had four goals and four assists for the Huskies. Goalkeeper Brittney Hegarty made eight saves.
Shippensburg is on the road for its next three matches. SU is at No. 18 Seton Hill on Friday for a 3 p.m. clash with the Griffins.
