SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University baseball team completed a four-game sweep of Mansfield on Monday, winning 15-1 and 8-4 in a PSAC Eastern Division doubleheader held at Fairchild Field.

Shippensburg (8-12, 5-3 PSAC East) swept Mansfield (1-13, 0-6) for the second straight year. Prior to last season, the Raiders had not swept the Mountaineers in a four-game series since 1998.

SU's offense cranked out 23 runs and 29 hits in Monday's doubleheader. In four games against Mansfield, Shippensburg hit .414 at the plate, totaling 53 hits (14 extra-base hits) and scoring 41 runs.

Junior shortstop
Mike Marcinko was 5-for-8 Monday with a double, triple, five RBIs and six runs scored. In four games against Mansfield, Marcinko was 9-for-15 at the plate with three extra-base hits, nine RBIs, two walks and 10 runs scored.

Sophomore third baseman
Ryan McMillen stayed hot at the plate with four hits, four runs, a double and an RBI. Junior
Austin Allison had two doubles, two singles, three RBIs and a steal.

Senior
Jimmy Spanos reached base five times and had four RBIs, while freshmen
Nick Spangler and
Dalton Hoiles each had three hits and an RBI.

SU homered twice on Monday. Sophomore catcher
Jake Kennedy launched his eighth home run of the season in Game 1 as part of a three-hit day. Kennedy's moonshot came in an eight-run sixth inning for the Raiders, who trailed 1-0 in the opener before scoring 15 times in their final four at-bats.

Senior
Cody Ezolt tattooed his fifth home run of the year in Game 2 over the fence to straightaway center field. Ezolt had two hits Monday and was 6-for-14 in the series.

In the midst of three straight days with a doubleheader, the Raiders received a pair of valuable complete-game efforts on the mound. SU entered the Mansfield series without any complete games this season but had three of its four pitchers go the distance against the Mountaineers.

Sophomore
Mark Curtis scattered a run on six hits in Game 1, improving to 3-2 on the season. He walked three and struck out seven, throwing 111 pitches. SU is averaging 8.5 runs per game in Curtis's six starts this season.

Freshman
Gabe Mosser picked up his first collegiate victory in Game 2, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits in a 107-pitch effort. Mosser walked one and struck out three.

SU's defense was also strong, committing just one error Monday and turning three double plays.

The Raiders will play their third doubleheader in three days tomorrow against IUP. First pitch from Fairchild Field is set for 1 p.m.
