Women’s Basketball Has All Five Starters Post Double Figures in 65-49 Win at Mansfield

Griffith (14-15) and Knauer (10-12) each record double-doubles in SU victory

MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's basketball team had all five starters post double figures Wednesday night as it posted its 14th consecutive victory over Mansfield, 65-49, in a PSAC Eastern Division matchup inside Decker Gymnasium.
 
Shippensburg (15-9, 11-7 PSAC East) closed the first half on a 20-9 run to lead by 13 points at the intermission, 33-20. SU stretched its lead to as many as 20 points in the second half, making its first four three-point attempts after halftime, and never let its advantage slip under double digits the rest of the way.
 
SU's post players each recorded double-doubles. Sophomore Morgan Griffith had her 10th of the season with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Junior Stephanie Knauer had 10 points and 12 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the year.
 
Sophomore Colleen Young had 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting, while sophomore Logan Snyder had 14 points and a team-high six assists. Sophomore Lauren Gold contributed 12 points, five assists and two steals.
 
Mansfield (3-20, 2-17) yielded 14 points in the first half to the Raiders on 10 turnovers. The Mounties got 17 points from Brielle Kelly and 15 points from Katie Fitzpatrick but just 17 from the rest of its lineup.
 
SU held an opponent under 50 points in a game for the fifth time this season. The Raiders are 12-0 this season when holding an opponent under 60 points.  
 
The win marked SU's 11th conference victory of the season, assuring the Raiders of an even or above-.500 record in conference play in all four seasons since the PSAC began counting all of its league games beginning in the 2011-12 season.

Shippensburg hosts Kutztown at 1 p.m. Saturday on "Play 4 Kay" Day at Heiges Field House. Fans wearing pink will receive free admission to the game a variety of events and promotions are scheduled, including a silent auction in which proceeds will be donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
