The Shippensburg University women's soccer team suffered a hard-fought 1-0 double overtime loss Tuesday to Slippery Rock in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Quarterfinal at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium in Slippery Rock.
Shippensburg (11-7-1), which entered the PSAC Tournament as the No. 6 seed, limited the third-seeded The Rock to just the golden goal in the 107th minute after surrendering four first-half goals to Slippery Rock in a meeting earlier this season.
There was 2:45 remaining the second overtime when the game-winning goal was scored.
The Rock finished the regular season averaging a PSAC-best 2.4 goals per game. Tuesday marked just the seventh time this season that Slippery Rock scored one goal or less.
The Raiders finished with five shots on goal and one corner while Slippery Rock took seven corners and had nine shots on goal. SU sophomore goalkeeper
Leah Roy finished with eight saves in the loss.
SU was competing in the PSAC Tournament for the second time in the last three years under head coach
Rob Fulton.
