The Shippensburg men's basketball team scored 44 points in each half on Sunday, receiving a game-high 24 points from junior point guard
Abe Massaley, and utilizing a strong start to the second half to post a convincing road victory at Wilmington (Del.), 88-72.
Shippensburg (4-2) established a 44-43 lead at the intermission before opening the second half on a 14-5 run over the first seven minutes to lead by 10 points. SU also held Wilmington (4-3) to just 33 percent shooting over the final 20 minutes after the Wildcats shot 53 percent from the field in the first half.
Massaley's 24 points mark his second-highest single-game total as a Raider. He complemented his scoring with a season-high eight rebounds and four assists. Massaley has scored at least 14 points in all six games this season for the Raiders.
Sophomore
Dustin Sleva delivered his third double-double in the last five games, scoring 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting and totaling 10 rebounds. SU out-rebounded Wilmington on the day, 49-35.
The Raiders got 32 points from the bench on Sunday, as a bevy of players stepped up with big performances.
Sophomore guard
Clay Conner entered with six assists through five games but had matched that output by halftime. Conner finished with a career-high eight assists in addition to seven points, four rebounds and three steals in 26 minutes.
Senior
Tony Ellis had eight points and a game-high 12 rebounds in a productive 31 minutes. The 12 rebounds for Ellis ties for his second-most in a single game as a Raider. It is the third time in six games that Ellis has scored eight or more points.
Senior
A.J. Maun had eight points in the first half, making 2-of-3 from three-point range. SU was 8-of-12 from three-point range in the first half and 9-of-18 from distance in the contest. Sophomore
Justin McCarthur and senior
Jay Hardy each went 2-for-3 from three-point range.
Freshman
Antonio Kellem had 11 points, seven rebounds, and two assists without committing a turnover in 25 minutes. Kellem has scored nine or more points in all six games this season, including double digits in five contests.
Shippensburg will host West Chester at 8 p.m. Tuesday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup inside Heiges Field House.
