Men’s Basketball Drops PSAC East Road Decision at Bloomsburg, 78-53

Pygatt leads SU with 11 points; Wilmer (10) and Adams (9) post new career highs in scoring

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Junior Mark Wilmer and freshman Keelan Adams recorded new career highs in points on Saturday but a short-handed Shippensburg University men's basketball team dropped a 78-53 decision to Bloomsburg in PSAC East play at Nelson Field House.

Wilmer earned his first start of the season on Saturday and made the most of it in the first half, scoring six points before having to exit because of foul trouble. He finished with 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting and added four rebounds.

Adams did not get into the game until the second half but finished with nine points on 4-of-7 shooting. He tied his career high with four rebounds and contributed three assists – the first three of his career.

Junior Sam Pygatt led the Raiders with 11 points – his second straight game posting double figures. Pygatt made his third start of the season, and his first since Nov. 16 versus Shepherd.

Sophomore Jay Hardy added nine points, four assists and two steals in playing all 40 minutes. Fellow sophomore Derek Boone hit a three-pointer off the bench to match his career high in scoring.

Bloomsburg (13-8, 9-3 PSAC East) closed the first half on a 25-10 over the final 10 minutes to take a 38-25 lead at the intermission. The Huskies then opened the second half with a 24-6 run that established a sizable advantage for the home team. BU also made nine three-pointers on Saturday.

Shippensburg will host No. 3 East Stroudsburg at 8 p.m. Wednesday from Heiges Field House.
