SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's basketball team committed just four turnovers Saturday afternoon, its fewest in a game in at least 25 years, but shot just 23 percent from the field in the first half and could not overcome a 15-point halftime deficit, falling 62-58 to Cheyney inside Heiges Field House.

Shippensburg (2-18, 0-10 PSAC) dropped its second game this week by just four points and has lost three of its last four games by just four points. SU did not commit a turnover in the second half and went the final 22:25 of the contest without handing the ball over to the opposition.

The Wolves would stretch their lead back up to eight points on multiple occasions, but a 9-3 Raider run got the home team within two, 60-58, with 43 seconds left.

Cheyney worked the clock but missed a three-pointer with eight seconds to go, giving Shippensburg a chance to tie or win the game in the final seconds. Lococo and freshman Abe Massaley each had 17 points to pace the Raiders. Lococo went 8-for-10 at the free-throw line and grabbed five rebounds.

Sophomore Jay Hardy was the third Raider in double figures Saturday, scoring 10 points. Redshirt-freshman Marcus Williams grabbed nine rebounds while junior Mark Wilmer was 3-for-3 in the first half to score six points.

Cheyney got 40 minutes from Curtis and center Calvin Brown, who finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocked shots. The Wolves shot 53 percent in the first half and got all but two of their points from the starting five.
