The Shippensburg University field hockey team, seeded No. 3 in the 2014 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament, will face No. 2 seed Millersville at 3:30 p.m. Friday in a semifinal matchup at West Chester University's Vonnie Gros Field.
Â
Admission has been set by the PSAC at $7 for adults and $2 for students. Any students of PSAC-member institutions, however, receive free admission with their student identification card.
Â
Shippensburg (15-3) and Millersville (16-2) split the regular-season series, with each winning on the other's home turf. SU won 2-1 at MU on Oct. 14, while the Marauders won 1-0 in Shippensburg on Sept. 9.
Â
Eight of the last 10 meetings have been decided by one goal and two have required overtime (SU won OT games in 2009 and 2013). Millersville has won the last two meetings in PSAC Tournament play, including last year's championship game and 2012's semifinal also held at West Chester.
Â
Both teams have allowed just nine goals this season – tied for the fewest in Division II.
Â
Shippensburg is participating in its 14th consecutive PSAC Semifinal and its 15th PSAC Tournament in 16 years under NFHCA Hall of Fame head coach
Bertie Landes. 2014 also marks the 14th straight season that Landes has guided SU to a Top 3 finish in the PSAC regular-season standings.
Â
SU is 14-22 in PSAC Tournament matches dating back to 1979. Its lone conference title came in 2005. Â
