Box Score

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – A pair of 20-point scoring performances by sophomore Joe Lococo and freshman Abe Massaley fell short for the Shippensburg University men's basketball team in PSAC Eastern Division play on Saturday afternoon in an 88-71 loss at Millersville from Pucillo Gymnasium.

The Raiders (2-16, 0-8 PSAC East) were unable to maintain a brief first-half lead before intermission as the Marauders (8-9, 4-4) won the game's rebounding battle by a 41-31 margin and capitalized on 32 bench points to complement leading scorer Kelvin Parker's 23 points.

Lococo scored 21 points on 4-of-8 shooting from three-point range to go along with five rebounds. Massaley scored 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting, dished out five assists and pulled down four rebounds.

After a tight start, a three-pointer from sophomore Jay Hardy (13 points) gave the Raiders a 27-25 lead with just under four minutes left before halftime. Millersville answered with a 12-0 run over the next three minutes, however, to open up a double-digit lead.

Shippensburg cut its deficit to as few as four points seven minutes into the second half after back-to-back lay-ups by sophomore Tony Ellis (six points) and junior Sam Pygatt (seven points), but Millersville shot 53 percent from the field in the second half and sank 6-of-11 from beyond the arc to maintain its cushion.

The Raiders travel to Lock Haven on Wednesday evening for an 8 p.m. contest against the Bald Eagles from Thomas Fieldhouse.
