Box Score

The Shippensburg University women's basketball team scored its most points in a single-game since the 1990-91 season opener and hit the century mark for the first time since 2000 on Saturday afternoon in a dominant 107-65 defeat at Mansfield in PSAC Eastern Division action from Decker Gymnasium.

The scoring production is the most since the Raiders (10-6, 4-2 PSAC East) scored 109 in a Nov. 16, 1990 home victory against Concordia. The effort marked the first 100-point game for SU since it scored 104 in a win at Clarion on Jan. 15, 2000.

Shippensburg shot an impressive 57 percent (36-of-63) from the field – its highest field-goal percentage in a single game since shooting 58.8 percent (30-of-51) in a loss at Bowie State on Dec. 30, 2003.

SU's 25 assists are the most since Dec. 2, 2002, when it also recorded 25 in a win over the University of the Sciences, while its 22 steals are the most since recording 30 in a season-opening win at Georgian Court on Nov. 19, 1999.

The Raiders put five players in double figures on Saturday, led by a game-high 20 points from senior Sarah Strybuc on 8-of-13 shooting and a 3-of-5 rate from three-point range in addition to seven assists.

Freshman Lauren Gold scored eight points but dished out a game-high nine assists and accounted for seven steals – the most for a Raider in a single game in nearly three years as Kasey Gardner also swiped seven on Feb. 26, 2011 in a win vs. East Stroudsburg.

Sophomores Caitlyn Deeter and Stephanie Knauer added 17 and 15 points, respectively. Freshman Logan Snyder scored a career-high 13 points off the bench on 8-of-10 free-throw shooting while freshman Morgan Griffith scored 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting.

All nine Raiders that played scored at least six points, including a career-high eight points on 3-of-4 shooting from sophomore Shaniece Jackson in 16 minutes of action as well as eight points and a career-high five rebounds courtesy of freshman Colleen Young. Freshman Haley Scullion recorded six points, three rebounds and a career-high five steals.

SU fell behind early to the Mounties (0-17, 0-7), down 11-4 less than three minutes in before the Raiders used an 11-0 run to retake control. After seven consecutive Mansfield points put the hosts back up by three with 14:47 left before half, the Raiders used a dominant 40-6 run – with just five points coming on free throws – over the next 11-and-a-half minutes to take a 31-point lead before eventually heading into intermission up 57-28.

The first-half scoring output was the second-most points Shippensburg has scored in a half this season and the most first-half points it's scored in Kristy Trn's '93/'94M 15 seasons as head coach.

The Raiders return home on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. divisional matchup against Kutztown from Heiges Field House.
