The Shippensburg University women's swimming team dropped a traditional dual meet with Edinboro on Saturday to conclude its two-day meet with the Fighting Scots. The meet score was 139-117 in favor of Edinboro.

Senior Julie Brown was SU's lone event winner of the day, taking gold in the 50-yard freestyle (24.46) and the 100-yard freestyle (53.58). Brown also placed second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.42) and swam the opening leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay that finished just one-hundredth of a second behind Edinboro in 1:40.40.

Among SU's second-place finishers were freshman Kaytee Garcia in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:05.53), sophomore Carolyn Meier in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.85) and sophomore Rikki Sargent in the 100-yard (1:11.56) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:33.79).

Garcia's time in the 1,000 freestyle is a 10-second improvement from earlier in the season and a season best for the Raiders.

Shippensburg will hold its final home dual meet of the season January 25 when it hosts Davis & Elkins for Senior Day.
