MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Senior Zach Zulli became the fourth quarterback in PSAC history to throw 100 career touchdown passes Saturday and senior defensive end Jake Metz broke the school record for career sacks as the Shippensburg University football team rolled up 504 yards of offense in a 48-10 victory over Millersville from Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.

For the second consecutive week, Shippensburg (2-2, 2-0 PSAC East) scored a touchdown in the final minute of the first half and rode that subsequent momentum to a successful second half. A 58-yard touchdown strike from Zulli to junior Trevor Harman just 14 seconds before halftime gave SU a 20-7 lead entering the intermission, and the Red Raiders out-scored the Marauders 28-7 over the final 30 minutes of play.

"It was huge for us to have that play right before halftime," head coach Mark 'Mac' Maciejewski said. "It settled us down and helped us come out strong in the second half. I'm real proud of our program for stepping up today."

Zulli finished the day completing 28-of-36 passes for season highs of 353 yards and five touchdowns. In 28 career games at quarterback, Zulli has now thrown 100 touchdown passes to just 26 interceptions – joining Jimmy Terwilliger (148), Kevin Morton (119) and Trevor Harris (100) among PSAC annals. With 383 yards of total offense in Saturday's game, Zulli also moved into the PSAC's all-time Top 10 for that category, sitting ninth with 9,208 yards.

Metz recorded 2.5 sacks for the second consecutive week, bringing his season total to 5.0 and his career total to 24.5. He surpassed Ed Brown (1979-82), who held the previous school record at 24, and also surpassed John Wertz (23; 1976-79) and Maciejewski (23; 1989-92) with his effort on Saturday. His 44 career tackles for loss sits him fourth in school history, 8.5 behind Cody Fleming (2009-12).

Defensively, the Red Raiders amassed seven sacks in a game for the first time since its last outing at Millersville on Oct. 29, 2011. SU has 12 sacks in its last two games after not tallying any in the first two games of the season.

Shippensburg totaled 151 rushing yards in Saturday's game after averaging just 69.3 yards per contest through the first three weeks. The Red Raider defense, meanwhile, limited the Marauders to just three rushing yards Saturday on 27 carries.

Junior Blair Brooks ran for a career-high 112 yards on 17 carries and scored a touchdown in the third quarter, averaging 6.6 yards per carry on the day. Brooks also became the second Red Raider to run a kickoff back for a touchdown in as many weeks, as his 89-yard scamper in the fourth quarter came as a direct answer to Millersville's only touchdown of the day.

Harman caught a 45-yard touchdown pass from Zulli with 10 minutes to play and finished with seven receptions for 151 yards. It is the ninth 100-yard receiving game of his career and his 18th game with at least one touchdown catch.

Junior wide receiver Sheldon Mayer caught SU's first two touchdowns of the day – marking the first multi-touchdown performance in his career. He had three receptions for 35 yards in the game.

"It starts with consistency," Maciejewski said. "The guys are getting more comfortable with every game and we're getting more consistent in all phases, especially on special teams. I think they're starting to understand that."

Shippensburg will host Seton Hill at 1 p.m. Saturday in a non-conference crossover game from SU Student Association Field at Seth Grove Stadium.

Notes: Brooks finished with 242 all-purpose yards…junior Kyle Kush caught a career-high five passes for 52 yards and sophomore Daniel Wheeler had a career-high four receptions for 39 yards…junior Chase Fleming led SU Saturday and matched his career high with six tackles, including 2.5 for loss...more to come.
