Late goals from redshirt-freshman Robert Furfaro and senior Oli Templeton in the final three minutes on Friday afternoon cut SU's deficit in half but weren't enough in a 4-2 loss at No. 19 Mercyhurst in SU's PSAC opener.

Facing a 4-0 deficit late in the game, Furfaro netted his team-leading third goal of the season for the Raiders (3-2-1, 0-1 PSAC) in the 88th minute when he beat the Laker (4-2, 3-0) goalkeeper on an unassisted shot to the back right of the net.

With just 26 seconds left, Templeton scored his first goal of the season off a helper from junior Derrick Roy. The assist was Roy's first since the third game of the 2011 season.

Templeton and Roy each took a team-high three shots while senior Jonathan DeNicola added two.

Shippensburg will remain in Erie to face Gannon at 6 p.m. Saturday.
