Box Score

The Shippensburg University men's soccer team out-shot and out-chanced home-standing Georgian Court on Monday afternoon but relinquished a second-half goal and had one of its own disallowed, ultimately dropping a 1-0 decision to the upstart Lions at Investors Savings Bank Field.

Shippensburg (2-1-1) posted a 13-6 advantage on the shot chart and managed a 12-4 margin in corner kicks but could not find the back of the net despite a flurry of first-half chances. Senior goalkeeper Clay Sale was credited with two saves.

Georgian Court (4-1), a first-year program, has now defeated three PSAC programs on the young season (ESU and UPJ). Goalkeeper Rylan Gentil made eight saves while Ben Vergara was credited with a goal in the 68th minute after he headed home a deflection off a corner kick.

Each team was issued three yellow cards in the match. The two squads combined for 20 fouls in the second half after just three were whistled in the first half.

Shippensburg will host Point Park at 4 p.m. Saturday in its final match before the start of conference play. Point Park is a NAIA school located in Pittsburgh.
