SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — The Shippensburg University baseball team, currently ranked No. 5 in the Atlantic Region rankings, enters the weekend seeking to clinch a PSAC Tournament berth as it wraps up its 2013 regular season with a four-game series against Mansfield.
Shippensburg (26-18, 9-11 PSAC East) is currently tied for fourth place in the divisional standings with West Chester (19-22-1, 9-11 PSAC East). Both teams are two games behind East Stroudsburg (27-14, 11-9 PSAC East).
SU gets the last-place Mountaineers (21-25, 5-15 PSAC East), while the Golden Rams take on second-place Kutztown (30-11, 14-6 PSAC East) and the Warriors face first-place Millersville (34-12, 16-4). Both Millersville and Kutztown have already clinched PSAC Tournament berths.
The Top 4 teams in the PSAC Eastern Division will qualify for next week's PSAC Tournament.
Regionally, the Raiders remain fifth in the NCAA Atlantic Region Rankings. The Top 6 teams will qualify for the NCAA Tournament in two weeks.
All three conferences are currently represented among the Top 3 teams: Winston-Salem State (CIAA) is No. 1, Millersville (PSAC) is No. 2 and Seton Hill (WVIAC) is No. 3. Kutztown is currently No. 4, while California (Pa.) is No. 6, East Stroudsburg is No. 7 and Mercyhurst is No. 8.
